Matthew 5:38-39
38) You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.‘
39) But I tell you, don‘t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Matthew 24:29-35
29) But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;
30) and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.
31) He will send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
32) "Now from the fig tree learn her parable. When its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near.

26) Then will they see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
27) Then will he send forth his angels, and will gather together his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.
28) "Now from the fig tree, learn this parable. When the branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near;
29) even so you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know that it is near, at the doors.
30) Most assuredly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things are accomplished.
31) Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Luke 16:1-9
1) He said also to his disciples, "There was a certain rich man, who had a manager. The same was accused to him of wasting his possessions.
2) He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.‘
3) The steward said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don‘t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.
4) I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.‘
5) Calling each one of his lord‘s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?‘
6) He said, ‘A hundred batos of oil.‘ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.‘
7) Then said he to another, ‘How much do you owe?‘ He said, ‘A hundred cors of wheat.‘ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.‘
8) His lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely, for the sons of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the sons of the light.
9) I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.
Luke 21:31-33
31) Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
32) Most assuredly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things are accomplished.
33) Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.
John 18:19-23
19) The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his teaching.
20) Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.
21) Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, these know the things which I said."
22) When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Jesus with his hand, saying, "Do you answer the high priest like that?"
23) Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?"
Acts 23:1-5
1) Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, "Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day."
2) The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
3) Then said Paul to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?"
4) Those who stood by said, "Do you malign God‘s high priest?"
5) Paul said, "I didn‘t know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.‘"
Romans 13:1-4
1) Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who be are ordained by God.
2) Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
3) For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the same,
4) for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn‘t bear the sword in vain; for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.
1 Peter 2:13-14
13) Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord‘s sake: whether to the king, as supreme;
14) or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to those who do well.
