Genesis 15:1-21
1) After these things the word of Yahweh came to Abram in a vision, saying, "Don‘t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."
2) Abram said, "Lord Yahweh, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?"
3) Abram said, "Behold, to me you have given no seed: and, behold, one born in my house is my heir."
4) Behold, the word of Yahweh came to him, saying, "This man will not be your heir, but he who will come forth out of your own body will be your heir."
5) Yahweh brought him outside, and said, "Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you be able to count them." He said to Abram, "So shall your seed be."
6) He believed in Yahweh; and he reckoned it to him for righteousness.
7) He said to him, "I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it."
8) He said, "Lord Yahweh, whereby will I know that I will inherit it?"
9) He said to him, "Take me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon."
10) He took him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn‘t divide the birds.
11) The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.
12) When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.
13) He said to Abram, "Know for sure that your seed will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.
14) I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great substance.
15) But you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried in a good old age.
16) In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full."
17) It came to pass that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.
18) In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:
19) the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites,
20) the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim,
21) the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites."
Exodus 4:18-26
18) Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, "Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive." Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."
19) Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, "Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead."
20) Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God‘s rod in his hand.
21) Yahweh said to Moses, "When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.
22) You shall tell Pharaoh, ‘Thus says Yahweh, Israel is my son, my firstborn,
23) and I have said to you, "Let my son go, that he may serve me;" and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.‘"
24) It happened on the way at a lodging place, that Yahweh met him and wanted to kill him.
25) Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me."
26) So he let him alone. Then she said, "You are a bridegroom of blood," because of the circumcision.
Exodus 33:11-23
11) Yahweh spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn‘t depart out of the Tent.
12) Moses said to Yahweh, "Behold, you tell me, ‘Bring up this people:‘ and you haven‘t let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.‘
13) Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people."
14) He said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
15) He said to him, "If your presence doesn‘t go with me, don‘t carry us up from here.
16) For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn‘t it in that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the earth?"
17) Yahweh said to Moses, "I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name."
18) He said, "Please show me your glory."
19) He said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy."
20) He said, "You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live."
21) Yahweh also said, "Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock.
22) It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;
23) then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back; but my face shall not be seen."
