Exodus 3:1-15
1) Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God‘s mountain, to Horeb.
2) The angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3) Moses said, I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4) When Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, "Moses! Moses!" He said, "Here I am."
5) He said, "Don‘t come close. Take off your sandals from off your feet, for the place you are standing on is holy ground."
6) Moreover he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look at God.
7) Yahweh said, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8) I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
9) Now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to me. Moreover I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.
10) Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt."
11) Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?"
12) He said, "Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain."
13) Moses said to God, "Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you;‘ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?‘ What should I tell them?"
14) God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," and he said, "You shall tell the children of Israel this: "I AM has sent me to you."
15) God said moreover to Moses, "You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.‘ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.
Exodus 12:1-51
1) Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2) "This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.
3) Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers‘ houses, a lamb for a household;
4) and if the household be too little for a lamb, then he and his neighbor next to his house shall take one according to the number of the souls; according to everyone can eat you shall make your count for the lamb.
5) Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats:
6) and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at evening.
7) They shall take same of the blood, and put it on the two side-posts and on the lintel, on the houses in which they shall eat it.
8) They shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread. They shall eat it with bitter herbs.
9) Don‘t eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted with fire; with its head, its legs and its inner parts.
10) You shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that which remains of it until the morning you shall burn with fire.
11) This is how you shall eat it: with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is Yahweh‘s Passover.
12) For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and animal. Against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am Yahweh.
13) The blood shall be to you for a token on the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there shall no plague be on you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
14) This day shall be to you for a memorial, and you shall keep it a feast to Yahweh: throughout your generations you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.
15) Seven days shall you eat unleavened bread; even the first day you shall put away yeast out of your houses, for whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
16) In the first day there shall be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no manner of work shall be done in them, except that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.
17) You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this same day have I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall you observe this day throughout your generations by an ordinance forever.
18) In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty first day of the month at evening.
19) Seven days shall there be no yeast found in your houses, for whoever eats that which is leavened, that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a sojourner, or one who is born in the land.
20) You shall eat nothing leavened. In all your habitations you shall eat unleavened bread.‘"
21) Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said to them, "Draw out, and take lambs according to your families, and kill the Passover.
22) You shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side-posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.
23) For Yahweh will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel, and on the two side-posts, Yahweh will pass over the door, and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to strike you.
24) You shall observe this thing for an ordinance to you and to your sons forever.
25) It shall happen when you have come to the land which Yahweh will give you, according as he has promised, that you shall keep this service.
26) It will happen, when your children ask you, ‘What do you mean by this service?‘
27) that you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of Yahweh‘s Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians, and spared our houses.‘" The people bowed their heads and worshipped.
28) The children of Israel went and did so; as Yahweh had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
29) It happened at midnight, that Yahweh struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
30) Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
31) He called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, "Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel; and go, serve Yahweh, as you have said!
32) Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also!"
33) The Egyptians were urgent with the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, "We are all dead men."
34) The people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading-troughs being bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.
35) The children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they asked of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing.
36) Yahweh gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. They despoiled the Egyptians.
37) The children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot who were men, besides children.
38) A mixed multitude went up also with them, with flocks, herds, and even very much cattle.
39) They baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt; for it wasn‘t leavened, because they were thrust out of Egypt, and couldn‘t wait, neither had they prepared for themselves any food.
40) Now the time that the children of Israel lived in Egypt was four hundred thirty years.
41) It happened at the end of four hundred thirty years, even the same day it happened, that all the hosts of Yahweh went out from the land of Egypt.
42) It is a night to be much observed to Yahweh for bringing them out from the land of Egypt. This is that night of Yahweh, to be much observed of all the children of Israel throughout their generations.
43) Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the ordinance of the Passover. There shall no foreigner eat of it,
44) but every man‘s servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then shall he eat of it.
45) A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat of it.
46) In one house shall it be eaten; you shall not carry forth anything of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall you break a bone of it.
47) All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.
48) When a stranger shall sojourn with you, and will keep the Passover to Yahweh, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one who is born in the land: but no uncircumcised person shall eat of it.
49) One law shall be to him who is born at home, and to the stranger who sojourns among you."
50) Thus did all the children of Israel. As Yahweh commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
51) It happened the same day, that Yahweh brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts.
Exodus 19:1-8
1) In the third month after the children of Israel had gone forth out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
2) When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain.
3) Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, "This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4) ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles‘ wings, and brought you to myself.
5) Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;
6) and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.‘ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."
7) Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.
8) All the people answered together, and said, "All that Yahweh has spoken we will do." Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.
Deuteronomy 7:6-11
6) For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God: Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.
7) Yahweh didn‘t set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples:
8) but because Yahweh loves you, and because he would keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, has Yahweh brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9) Know therefore that Yahweh your God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and lovingkindness with them who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations,
10) and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him who hates him, he will repay him to his face.
11) You shall therefore keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command you this day, to do them.
Joshua 1:1-9
1) Now it happened after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, that Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses‘ minister, saying,
2) Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3) Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread on, to you have I given it, as I spoke to Moses.
4) From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
5) There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you, nor forsake you.
6) Be strong and of good courage; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
7) Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you: don‘t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
8) This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate thereon day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
9) Haven‘t I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; don‘t be afraid, neither be dismayed: for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 24:1-15
1) Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
2) Joshua said to all the people, Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Your fathers lived of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.
3) I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
4) I gave to Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave to Esau Mount Seir, to possess it: and Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
5) I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did in the midst of it: and afterward I brought you out.
6) I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and you came to the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horsemen to the Red Sea.
7) When they cried out to Yahweh, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea on them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt: and you lived in the wilderness many days.
8) I brought you into the land of the Amorites, that lived beyond the Jordan: and they fought with you; and I gave them into your hand, and you possessed their land; and I destroyed them from before you.
9) Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel: and he sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you;
10) but I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
11) You went over the Jordan, and came to Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.
12) I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; not with your sword, nor with your bow.
13) I gave you a land whereon you had not labored, and cities which you didn‘t build, and you dwell therein; of vineyards and olive groves which you didn‘t plant do you eat.
14) Now therefore fear Yahweh, and serve him in sincerity and in truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt; and serve you Yahweh.
15) If it seem evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.
