Genesis 1:1-31
1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2) Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God‘s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3) God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
4) God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.
5) God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. There was evening and there was morning, one day.
6) God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters."
7) God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse, and it was so.
8) God called the expanse sky. There was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9) God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear," and it was so.
10) God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas. God saw that it was good.
11) God said, "Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with its seed in it, on the earth," and it was so.
12) The earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with its seed in it, after their kind: and God saw that it was good.
13) There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14) God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;
15) and let them be for lights in the expanse of sky to give light on the earth," and it was so.
16) God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.
17) God set them in the expanse of sky to give light to the earth,
18) and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.
19) There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
20) God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of sky."
21) God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.
22) God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."
23) There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
24) God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, cattle, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind," and it was so.
25) God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.
26) God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
27) God created man in his own image. In God‘s image he created him; male and female he created them.
28) God blessed them. God said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
29) God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
30) To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food." And it was so.
31) God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Genesis 12:1-7
1) Now Yahweh said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father‘s house, to the land that I will show you.
2) I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you, and make your name great. You will be a blessing.
3) I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. In you will all of the families of the earth be blessed."
4) So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5) Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother‘s son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls who they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.
6) Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.
7) Yahweh appeared to Abram, and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.
Genesis 21:1-7
1) Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.
2) Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3) Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
4) Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5) Abraham was one hundred years old when his son, Isaac, was born to him.
6) Sarah said, "God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me."
7) She said, "Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age."
Genesis 32:22-32
22) He rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two handmaids, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford of the Jabbok.
23) He took them, and sent them over the stream, and sent over that which he had.
24) Jacob was left alone, and wrestled with a man there until the breaking of the day.
25) When he saw that he didn‘t prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob‘s thigh was strained, as he wrestled.
26) The man said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." Jacob said, "I won‘t let you go, unless you bless me."
27) He said to him, "What is your name?" He said, "Jacob."
28) He said, "Your name will no longer be called ‘Jacob,‘ but, ‘Israel,‘ for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed."
29) Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." He said, "Why is it that you ask what my name is?" He blessed him there.
30) Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, he said, "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."
31) The sun rose on him as he passed over Peniel, and he limped because of his thigh.
32) Therefore the children of Israel don‘t eat the sinew of the hip, which is on the hollow of the thigh, to this day, because he touched the hollow of Jacob‘s thigh in the sinew of the hip.
Genesis 45:1-15
1) Then Joseph couldn‘t control himself before all those who stood before him, and he cried, "Cause every man to go out from me!" There stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.
2) He wept aloud. The Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.
3) Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Does my father still live?" His brothers couldn‘t answer him; for they were terrified at his presence.
4) Joseph said to his brothers, "Come near to me, please." They came near. "He said, I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.
5) Now don‘t be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.
6) For these two years has the famine been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.
7) God sent me before you to preserve you a remnant in the earth, and to save you alive by a great deliverance.
8) So now it wasn‘t you who sent me here, but God, and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
9) Hurry, and go up to my father, and tell him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says, "God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me. Don‘t wait.
10) You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you will be near to me, you, your children, your children‘s children, your flocks, your herds, and all that you have.
11) There I will nourish you; for there are yet five years of famine; lest you come to poverty, you, and your household, and all that you have."‘
12) Behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaks to you.
13) You shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen. You shall hurry and bring my father down here."
14) He fell on his brother Benjamin‘s neck, and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.
15) He kissed all his brothers, and wept on them. After that his brothers talked with him.
Genesis 46:1-7
1) Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac.
2) God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, "Jacob, Jacob!" He said, "Here I am."
3) He said, "I am God, the God of your father. Don‘t be afraid to go down into Egypt; for there I will make of you a great nation.
4) I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph will close your eyes."
5) Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
6) They took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt - Jacob, and all his seed with him,
7) his sons, and his sons‘ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons‘ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.
