1 Samuel 1:20-28
20) It happened, when the time was come about, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, [saying], Because I have asked him of Yahweh.
21) The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to Yahweh the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
22) But Hannah didn‘t go up; for she said to her husband, [I will not go up] until the child be weaned; and then I will bring him, that he may appear before Yahweh, and there abide forever.
23) Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what seems you good; wait until you have weaned him; only Yahweh establish his word. So the woman waited and nursed her son, until she weaned him.
24) When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of meal, and a bottle of wine, and brought him to the house of Yahweh in Shiloh: and the child was young.
25) They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.
26) She said, Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to Yahweh.
27) For this child I prayed; and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of him:
28) therefore also I have granted him to Yahweh; as long as he lives he is granted to Yahweh. He worshipped Yahweh there.
Job 1:1-5
1) There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.
2) There were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
3) His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred she-donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east.
4) His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5) It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts." Thus did Job continually.
Luke 11:9-13
9) I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.
10) For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
11) Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won‘t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
12) Or if he asks for an egg, he won‘t give him a scorpion, will he?
13) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
Romans 12:9-13
9) Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.
10) In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; in honor preferring one another;
11) not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12) rejoicing in hope; enduring in oppression; continuing steadfastly in prayer;
13) contributing to the needs of the saints; given to hospitality.
