Exodus 25:10-22
10) "They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Its length shall be two and a half cubits, its breadth a cubit and a half, and a cubit and a half its height.
11) You shall overlay it with pure gold. Inside and outside shall you overlay it, and shall make a gold molding around it.
12) You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four feet. Two rings shall be on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.
13) You shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.
14) You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark.
15) The poles shall be in the rings of the ark. They shall not be taken from it.
16) You shall put the testimony which I shall give you into the ark.
17) You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two and a half cubits shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth.
18) You shall make two cherubim of hammered gold. You shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat.
19) Make one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end. You shall make the cherubim on its two ends of one piece with the mercy seat.
20) The cherubim shall spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat.
21) You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you.
22) There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the testimony, all that I command you for the children of Israel.
Exodus 26:31-34
31) "You shall make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cherubim. The work of the skillful workman shall it be made.
32) You shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold; their hooks shall be of gold, on four sockets of silver.
33) You shall hang up the veil under the clasps, and shall bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil: and the veil shall separate the holy place from the most holy for you.
34) You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the most holy place.
Leviticus 16:1-34
1) Yahweh spoke to Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before Yahweh, and died;
2) and Yahweh said to Moses, Speak to Aaron your brother, that he doesn‘t come at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; that he not die: for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.
3) Herewith shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bull for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
4) He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches on his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen sash, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: they are the holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on.
5) He shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin-offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6) Aaron shall present the bull of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself, and for his house.
7) He shall take the two goats, and set them before Yahweh at the door of the tent of meeting.
8) Aaron shall cast lots on the two goats; one lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for Azazel.
9) Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for Yahweh, and offer him for a sin-offering.
10) But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before Yahweh, to make atonement for him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness.
11) Aaron shall present the bull of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin-offering which is for himself:
12) and he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Yahweh, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil:
13) and he shall put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, that he not die:
14) and he shall take of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
15) Then shall he kill the goat of the sin-offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
16) and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwells with them in the midst of their uncleanness.
17) There shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goes in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.
18) He shall go out to the altar that is before Yahweh, and make atonement for it, and shall take of the blood of the bull, and of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar round about.
19) He shall sprinkle of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20) When he has made an end of atoning for the holy place, and the tent of meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat:
21) and Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a man who is in readiness into the wilderness:
22) and the goat shall bear on him all their iniquities to a solitary land: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
23) Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
24) and he shall bathe his flesh in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.
25) The fat of the sin-offering shall he burn on the altar.
26) He who lets go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
27) The bull of the sin-offering, and the goat of the sin-offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall be carried forth outside of the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
28) He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29) It shall be a statute forever to you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the home-born, or the stranger who sojourns among you:
30) for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall you be clean before Yahweh.
31) It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls; it is a statute forever.
32) The priest, who shall be anointed and who shall be consecrated to be priest in his father‘s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments:
33) and he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
34) This shall be an everlasting statute to you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year. He did as Yahweh commanded Moses.
Matthew 27:50-51
50) Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.
51) Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.
Hebrews 4:14-16
14) Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.
15) For we don‘t have a high priest who can‘t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.
16) Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for timely help.
Hebrews 9:1-7
1) Now indeed even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service, and an earthly sanctuary.
2) For there was a tent prepared, the first, in which were the lampstand, the table, and the show bread; which is called the Holy Place.
3) After the second veil, the tent which is called the Holy of Holies,
4) having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aaron‘s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5) and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, of which things we can‘t now speak in detail.
6) Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tent, accomplishing the services,
7) but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself, and for the errors of the people.
Hebrews 9:24-28
24) For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, similar in pattern to the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us;
25) nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place year by year with blood not his own,
26) or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27) Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment,
28) so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, without sin, to those who are eagerly waiting for him for salvation.
Hebrews 10:19-28
19) Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,
20) by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21) and having a great priest over the house of God;
22) let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,
23) let us hold fast the confession of our hope unyieldingly. For he who promised is faithful.
24) Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,
25) not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.
26) For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,
27) but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.
28) A man who has set at nothing Moses‘ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.
1 John 2:1-2
1) My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.
2) And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
