Genesis 1:1-2
1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2) Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God‘s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Psalm 19:1-4
1) The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork.
2) Day after day they pour forth speech, And night after night they display knowledge.
3) There is no speech nor language, Where their voice is not heard.
4) Their voice has gone out through all the earth, Their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
Psalm 139:7-18
7) Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence?
8) If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there!
9) If I take the wings of the dawn, And settle in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10) Even there your hand will lead me, And your right hand will hold me.
11) If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; The light around me will be night;"
12) Even the darkness doesn‘t hide from you, But the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.
13) For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother‘s womb.
14) I will give thanks to you, For I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.
15) My frame wasn‘t hidden from you, When I was made in secret, Woven together in the depths of the earth.
16) Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there were none of them.
17) How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
18) If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.
Isaiah 40:12-14
12) Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out the sky with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13) Who has directed the Spirit of Yahweh, or being his counselor has taught him?
14) With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed to him the way of understanding?
Acts 17:16-34
16) Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw the city full of idols.
17) So he reasoned in the synagogue with Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who met him.
18) Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also encountered him. Some said, "What does this babbler want to say?" Others said, "He seems to be advocating foreign demons," because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.
19) They took hold of him, and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, "May we know what this new teaching is, which is spoken by you?
20) For you bring certain strange things to our ears. We want to know therefore what these things mean."
21) Now all the Athenians and the strangers living there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell or to hear some new thing.
22) Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus, and said, "You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.
23) For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.‘ What therefore you worship in ignorance, this I announce to you.
24) The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands,
25) neither is he served by men‘s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things.
26) He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation,
27) that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
28) ‘For in him we live, and move, and have our being.‘ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.‘
29) Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and device of man.
30) The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all men everywhere should repent,
31) because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; whereof he has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead."
32) Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but others said, "We want to hear you yet again concerning this."
33) Thus Paul went out from among them.
34) But certain men joined with him, and believed, among whom also was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
Romans 1:18-20
18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness,
19) because that which is known by God is revealed in them, for God revealed it to them.
20) For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse.
Romans 2:12-16
12) For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
13) For it isn‘t the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified
14) (for when Gentiles who don‘t have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,
15) in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or else excusing them)
16) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:17-24
17) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18) being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts;
19) who having become callous gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20) But you did not learn Christ that way;
21) if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:
22) that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit;
23) and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24) and put on the new man, that like God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
Hebrews 11:6
6) Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
1 Peter 1:13-16
13) Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ --
14) as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,
15) but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;
16) because it is written, "You shall be holy; for I am holy."
