Luke 12:13-21
13) One of the multitude said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."
14) But he said to him, "Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?"
15) He said to them, "Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man‘s life doesn‘t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses."
16) He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly.
17) He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don‘t have room to store my crops?‘
18) He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19) I will tell my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry."‘
20) But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared -- whose will they be?‘
21) So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
Proverbs 3:5-12
5) Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, And don‘t lean on your own understanding.
6) In all your ways acknowledge him, And he will direct your paths.
7) Don‘t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
8) It will be health to your body, And nourishment to your bones.
9) Honor Yahweh with your substance, With the first fruits of all your increase:
10) So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
11) My son, don‘t despise Yahweh‘s discipline, Neither be weary of his reproof:
12) For whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; Even as a father the son in whom he delights.
Isaiah 26:1-6
1) In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: we have a strong city; salvation will he appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2) Open you the gates, that the righteous nation which keeps faith may enter in.
3) You will keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on you]; because he trusts in you.
4) Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting Rock.
5) For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city: he lays it low, he lays it low even to the ground; he brings it even to the dust.
6) The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.
