Luke 9:28-36
28) It happened about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray.
29) As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling.
30) Behold, two men talked with him, who were Moses and Elijah,
31) who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
32) Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.
33) It happened, as they were parting from him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let‘s make three tents: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah," not knowing what he said.
34) While he said these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.
35) A voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!"
36) When the voice came, Jesus was found alone. They were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.
Romans 15:17-21
17) I have therefore my boasting in Christ Jesus in things pertaining to God.
18) For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Christ worked through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,
19) in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God‘s Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ;
20) yes, making it my aim so to preach the gospel, not where Christ was already named, that I might not build on another man‘s foundation.
21) But, as it is written, "They will see, to whom no news of him came. They who haven‘t heard will understand."

Your Bibles. The Luke chapter nine verses twenty eight to thirty six, chapter nine verses twenty eight to thirty six where, speaking today about the transfiguration of Jesus, and usually on Sunday prior to the new year or the beginning of the new year which we talk about New Year's resolutions. I always got over Christmas. Now her resolve to get through the new year and get started right. Get back to work and change everything and get get on with it all at the job of life. Okay it over the holidays and they may have arrived at Christmas, so we did. We had our family home and David Jenning and Rachel Rich and the kids and it was a great time was had by all. Yes were glad they're gone, but often FF FF FF just kidding the yeah was a busy time in a lot of things going on. We lowered his head with a great time. I so today were looking at the Transfiguration of Jesus and I I have this endeavor 's Idol think I've ever spoken on this. This section. This passage of Scripture so I'm I'm looking forward to it. So, in the chapter nine, beginning in verse twenty eight, and were reading in the message Bible about eight days after this after saying this, he climbed the mountain to pray, taking Peter John and James, along while he was in prayer. The appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became blinding white at once to me where there is hatred and talking with him. They turned out to be Moses and Elijah, and what a glorious appearance. They made they talked over his, Exodus, meaning Jesus, the one Jesus was about to complete in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, Peter and those with him were slumped over and sleep when they came to rubbing their eyes they saw Jesus in his glory and the two men standing with him. When Moses and Elijah had left Peter said to Jesus, Master, this is a great moment. Let's build three memorials one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. He blurted this out without thinking while he was babbling online is a light radiant cloud enveloped them as they found themselves buried in the cloud they became deeply aware of God, then there was a voice out of the cloud. This is my son, the chosen listen to him when the sound of the voice died away. They saw Jesus there alone. They were speechless and they continued speechless said not one thing to anyone during those days of what they had seen so as we approach the new year. We often think of it in the context of what what's going to happen. What yours is going to be a better year in all. Then last year, and sometimes we say I hope it is a better year than last year because. And so we set out to make resolutions and by making numerous New Year's resolutions. I don't make it. Since now, but anyhow there. There are are important things to. I remember a sermon I had years ago about being resolved in making resolutions and if the if enough we are inclined to make resolutions. We need to make them within the context of how they can be accomplished. Now one does not have a better year. Okay, how he got to have a better year. What are you going to do to make it a better year. Now I can if if I were going to make the resolution that I was going to exercise and I probably will have to sooner or later, but if I were going to make the resolution, and I was going to lose weight and become better healthy, healthy, better, better health, better and better health. I would go upon two things, one would be the ultimate exercise is hundred eighty minutes a week that was approved by the Dean Ornish heart disease reversal program that if you exercise elevate your heart rate hundred and eighty minutes a week. That is your optimum exercise to do more is okay but they did the research and people who were marathon runners did not have less heart disease is and did not have any. There was no significant heart disease changed from those who were marathon runners and those who exercise the hundred eighty minutes a week. Okay, so there you have it. If you can, whether it's thirty minutes a day or whatever it is you get your heart rate elevated four hundred eighty minutes a week and you are finding your optimum and exercise so you have to find a way to do it so set up the goal on an eighty minutes, then the secondary goal is that by walking this by going to the gym visit by whatever stationary bike, elliptical bike, treadmill, whatever. So you set out a new set goals, but you always set them in ways that while going to lose weight, okay. When you start the second Tuesday of next week so and while what happens is we know that is not going to happen. So we make off resolutions will we resolve to do things, and it's important that we resolve only make resolutions, because if we don't resolve to do something. Things don't change and are going to change, so it's better for us to make a resolution and to recognize that in the process of change. I'm going to do something about the direction in which it which it doubts and if we are looking at changing how many transforms us. We are going to do it in a positive way. So if we are making resolutions. If we are going to do things to bring about change in our life. This important that we see how that so these things are going to be accomplished not just going to happen again positive change is approached from the perspective of looking at it deciding how were going to do it, and then proceeding and when we don't make it. We continue to do so. We continued to fall. Why, because it is an important decision that we have made, or we would've made it in the first place. So we make decisions, we chose to go in a particular direction. As we see how that these directions and how that these directions are going to lead us to certain location to a certain spot. This chapter is a very important chapter if you read over this chapter, and verses one through eleven and Luke nine Jesus sent out his disciples, and they have authority over the power to deal with demons and cure diseases, and then and twelve the seventeenth Jesus feeds that they doesn't say the five thousand BC defeats the thousands of the few lows. Your five loaves and two fishes at Luke nine eighteen to twenty seven. Jesus are and who the people say that I am, we are the Messiah and yelled that you're the bigger the one coming, and then we have the events leading up to our text. After about eight days after they have declared Jesus to be the Messiah. So here they are in this setting of going out in great authority great power that the miracle on feeding the five thousand and the declaration that Jesus is the Messiah and then we find Jesus, Peter, James and John going up on a mountain and it's a very know what is Jesus going to do next. While we find that the disciples, for whatever reason tired and weary fall asleep. And while they are up on this mountain and they have fallen asleep. We have then Jesus what is called the Transfiguration, the Transfiguration is when Jesus and his glory and as we'll see as we go through this. It has the glory that surrounds Jesus is as lightning is as bright as lightning, K, but it doesn't just flash eliminates some of the glory that is around Jesus, is this elimination like lightning, and we find that as Jesus is there the disciples they fall asleep. What does Jesus do, he prays he prays and in the midst of his prior. He changes you see, so if there is one thing that we are going to resolve to do in the new year is that we are going to pray okay prayer is now to each one. It is subsiding somewhat a little different because sometimes prayer is kneeling down and having up in those quiet times. Sometimes there is prayer by walking, going in the woods walking around the house, walking around the neighborhood. Some people want to be in motion whenever they pray if you are praying you should get your eyes open when you're driving. Okay, okay, it's it's it's it's a logo don't close your eyes while driving and praying. Okay, it just doesn't work well, but we find that we each have our desires and our need to pray and prayer. Then, from even the sounds we were descending craft has a way of transforming now file I have two participants were they to come on down appear and for the directions up missing with your gut. Here what we have here before us are two cars within the ordinary, no cars again, but through the power of instructions and through the power of intelligence and skill were going to transform these cars so guys go to their site. The music the bone to the snapped. No pressure. I had them in the vacuum. They were working on this. I thought whenever I come up with the idea here. I would just surprise and on the nicer looking at its, you know this might you will more complicated. While I think now so I gave them the instructions and set them in the back and they were back there doing that I didn't think they were going to come out for Churchland back and got them. But whatever we think of transforming with a transformation. We think that in the context of becoming something different, but still the same thing when God transforms us. We don't become somebody different. We are the same person, but we do change, and whenever were thinking about transformation for the new year. How that God is going to change and change the new year. We've got to see that it is going to appear like another day is going to appear like it is the same situations saying people same the same problems as different people. It's going to appear lattice. Nothing has been different. So in our lives. Whenever we approach our days. Jesus is here on the mountain and what is he due, he begins to pray, and when he is praying there was a transformation that takes place that changes his countenance, but it's the same Jesus and his countenance takes on the continent as a lightning and who shows up, but Moses and they are standing there talking to Jesus. What does that mean it means that the people that we know who have died are still alive in God 's glory and in God 's presence. The people we think we know that have died in this life are still alive so there was Moses and Elijah standing there with Jesus and they were conversing about Jesus and his Exodus is that it was about to take place so as we say that transformation busily happening here because maybe, okay with data transformation and there called Transformers and this is a was a call, an auto but there is a lot of much and how that they are being transformed from a close on waiting asses, and there's no pressure is no pressure about it are alive. Okay I you go there you go to your ability or go to your work. The boss times up in Connecticut were pretty close to it again. We got there. Zach is yours done some as close again, but it doesn't look like a car doesn't know that does look like a car that looks like an auto body that is had in the back there is not his fenders out the needs is ready to roll lock the rock 'n roll and things like that. Okay. Thank you very much. These are yours. Whenever you come back whenever something were done, but in order for them to change. Okay the transformation that was instructions. Now it's just is not an easy process. I am certainly glad I let them practice before they can operate in because I don't like I should of read and write it myself. The never known a harder to let how many of us have a difficulty saying we're going to change seat without instructions and without preparation. We don't change very much changes anything changes, but I happen and it's going to take place, but often it's going to be change that we really don't want and we really don't like and so in our tax before this transfiguration. Jesus prayed what was he doing he was getting instructions. He was speaking with the father and the disciples their kind of tired from the journey, or whatever's been going on in the last few days, and they fall asleep. So one of our things as we enter into our old transformation yell becoming something someone same substance, but get different. These are not divine, but it's just due to illustrate that we do have change that goes on in our life and we are designed to change that our life is never the same and we need to have prior beef as we begin to go through the changes in our life as we go through every daily event, and we find that the events also give to Lawson understanding about life in one that we need to study shows up the disciples didn't know what was going to happen when they went up on this mountain, yelp, they never know what's good happen with Jesus in our old Wall Street. These people the freedom and we did our best. We got Jesus it up, you need to send these people away there hungry. Jesus is a you feed him I would be home with people that they make their best effort scrounge up five loves to fish is penetrated the Jesus. Jesus said, breaks it prays this. I think this is one of the one of the miracles that is related to most often by all of the disciples because each one of them took part in the miracle, because Jesus broke bread into twelve baskets and each of them knew saw five loads two fishes, and they saw Jesus filling up each basket with five loaves and two fishes, and he kept multiplying and then they went out and distributed to five thousand people plus women and children and day saw the basket never going empty and whenever they went back to after finally emptied and everybody was fed. They went back and pick up the scraps and they had a basket for themselves greatest was a miracle that just was beyond anything that they can comprehend and so there just a few days out from this miracle. There just eight days away from the understanding that Jesus is the Messiah, but they don't see how all of this fits together so they go up to pray resolution while what happened with Peter and James and John. When they awaken, they see three people. This whitening like experience of brilliance around Jesus and Moses and Elijah, and immediately they come up with a resolution last build the building and keep it just like it is less house it just like you. There was another building. Everybody can come here and see the glory that we does have and will be just perfect because we got not only met Jesus with Moses and Elijah, and it's all going to be great. How many have had great experiences with God in their pack. I may have had overwhelming impressions of God 's Spirit in God 's power in their life. We just like to build the building to it and live there, but we can't end in verses thirty four and thirty five I like this one it says wow he was babbling on like this. Yet he wants to go into the building project, and he's babbling on about how that yell. We got to keep this going and why is babbling on this likeness or radio. Unlike radiant cloud enveloped them, they became deeply aware of God 's presence here we are going into a new year. We want to be in prayer about the deeds the needs the days and we want to be deeply aware of God 's presence thing prayer makes us helps us to bring us into the presence of God that we want to be deeply aware of God 's presence, safe in the arms of my father that I want to be in this place of security, and this is the displays of awareness of God 's presence again. So the wrestler fourteen fourteen and become deeply aware of God 's presence that no matter where I met no matter what I am doing. I am deeply aware of God 's presence. Wells is at a found themselves buried in the cloud, they became aware of God. And then there was a voice out of the cloud. This is my son, the chosen listen to him, listen to him. So we find that in the cloud of God 's presence, we hear the word Jesus is the word of God and his word is what space do I Hartson lives in Romans chapter fifteen. Versus seventeen twenty one hundred give that to you so you don't have it there so sorry. It says, looking backward over what has been accomplished and what I have observed this is Paul writing to the church at Rome. I must say I am most pleased in the context of Jesus. I didn't say proud, but only in that context, I have no interest in giving you a chatty account of my adventures. Only the wondrously powerful and transforming link present words and deeds of Christ transforming Lee presents words transforming Lee presents of words. The word of Jesus transforms our lives. It takes us from what we think we are, to who we are. We think that now I would think that when I was growing up way, I would I am a farmer in the know mother load the child of men. The father Rob and all those things and I am aware of that but something else I noticed the yellow line something else I might present care of God 's presence. I'm a precentor of God 's presence, but so are you. I am a declarer of God 's word over you that I am in a place where the transforming power of God 's word in the beginning was the word Word was with God 's word is God before the beginning began God was God is in that same word. It spoke the world into existence when we pray and enter into God 's presence. What happens. It transforms our lives. We are changed the little things have instructions are alive. These little things. These bodies. These spirits. The spiritual being needs instruction, and it is the instruction of God 's word that helps us to transform from a whole, we think we are to know God knows we can be know what these guys are that they can keep these things as cars they got to keep Cameron Park when we got there apart from it. If you never knew that they could change you would keep them the same God knows what we can become. We like it's all fit together like a little car. God wants us to become something different. He transforms us how my prayer by his word entering full that we become completely aware of God that we are there with him. Romans twelve to be conformed to this world .de transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that we want God wants to change our thoughts, our thought patterns about what we see when we are we. We look at things and if I did the disciples were a lot like Peter and James and John. We see things. Let's build a house look to build the tabernacle was cheap. This is a news and God says stop your babbling. This place is just the place of painting tabernacle. These experiences are part of who you are, but it's not who you are is just part of it. Part of the transformation you think back of the times in which God moved greatly in your life and how the God transformed to. We would like for those things in those places. The once again visit us. Imagine how often Peter and James and John remembered this account to think how often they would've remembered few remember that day upon the mountain in which the court got Jesus was like lightning brilliance about him, and then list cloud hovered over us and we were there in the presence of God stopped our babbling about building something and stopped our song about the way we were, because we were something else we been changed. We been changed. There are instructions, there is instructions about the transformation and you know what if we didn't know what we would know that there was something different in the package is God who has knows what this package is capable of so we look at this, we take the ordinary and by the divine intermingled with the ordinary. It is transformed. We pray changing circumstances by taking what you have holding it in your hands like Jesus and feeding of the five thousand blessing. It's in making a difference. So we look at all of this and we pray in the cloud of God 's presence to be deeply aware that God is with us over here in God 's presence, and we pray and we are deeply aware God is with us and we take our ordinary thoughts of our ordinary lives of our ordinary things and we stop our babbling of what we think they should be and what we think we should do and God 's presence. God transforms us while he was babbling light radiant cloud enveloped them. This light mean like clouds of Jesus on his presence, and there was this cloud of God 's presence like that was over Mount Sinai, when, when Moses went up and received the ten Commandments, the cloud became upon the tabernacle whenever the presence of God descended upon it. That file was there, and as they found themselves buried in the cloud, they became deeply aware of God. If there was anything in our lives. We need to be deeply aware of God love all the things, but I'm deeply aware of God, then there was a voice out of the cloud. This is my son, the chosen listen to him, listen to his word, his words will transform our lives. When the sound of his voice died away. They saw Jesus there alone. They were speechless. Peter speechless. They were speechless and they continued speechless said not one thing to anyone during those days of what they had seen it was so overwhelming and so beyond anything that they could describe. They couldn't talk about, and this was all the preparation for the cross, C God is deeply aware of our tomorrows of our today's and we want to pray. We want to enter into and to be aware of his presence and in his presence. He speaks to us and we see God transforming us into his image into his life 's by the renewing of our mind and of our spirits. That's our New Year's resolution to pray and to be deeply aware of God with us, and then listen father. We are thankful for your presence for in your presence. Lord there is fullness of joy at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Lord, in your presence. We are aware that there is life beyond life there is life beyond this, which we see in the problems in the cares of this world got all of these things. They are important, but nothing is as important as your presence as your words as your love and folding our lives knowing that we are safe. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, nothing is too big, too great, too small. Everything Lord is within your hands. So Lord, we place ourselves in your presence nine. Lord that you will work all things together for good, knowing the Lord that you will work in our lives. Help us all got to stop our babbling and Lloyd's to be speechless and expectant and receptive to the one who transforms us in Jesus name we pray everybody said amen. God bless you if I can make youYour Bibles. God bless you if I can make you
