Acts 2:29-47
29) "Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30) Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
31) he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was his soul left in Hades, nor did his flesh see decay.
32) This Jesus God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33) Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured forth this, which you now see and hear.
34) For David didn‘t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit by my right hand,
35) Until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet."‘
36) "Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."
37) Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what will we do?"
38) Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39) For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself."
40) With many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation!"
41) Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.
42) They continued steadfastly in the apostles‘ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and prayer.
43) Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
44) All who believed were together, and had all things common.
45) They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, according as anyone had need.
46) Day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,
47) praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord added to the assembly day by day those who were being saved.
Acts 3:1-12
1) Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
2) A certain man who was lame from his mother‘s womb was being carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of those who entered into the temple.
3) Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms.
4) Peter, fastening his eyes on him, with John, said, "Look at us."
5) He listened to them, expecting to receive something from them.
6) But Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk!"
7) He took him by the right hand, and raised him up. Immediately his feet and his ankle bones received strength.
8) Leaping up, he stood, and began to walk. He entered with them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God.
9) All the people saw him walking and praising God.
10) They recognized him, that it was he who sat begging for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. They were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him.
11) As the lame man who was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon‘s, greatly wondering.
12) When Peter saw it, he answered to the people, "You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this man? Why do you fasten your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk?

Lie on there. I am okay well imagine this amended Peter again on the series and we been following is no Peter in his life and all the changes that have gone on and in him as a person and in his understanding of what the gospel is about than his relationship with Jesus Christ and we started out with Peter being called by Jesus and then a couple of situations and Peter 's life, the one whenever he walked on the water now Jesus had said, if it's you, PP executive Peter said to Jesus of it's you, Lord Eldon, me, to you and so Peter jumps out of the boat, walked among modern one of the other occasions that we spoke about was after the resurrection, that Jesus is the sea of Galilee, and now they couldn't play on a fish all night and catch anything, and Jesus said, put the net on the other side. And while there was more fish than they could hardly drag into the boats and dragons sure, and that's where Peter challenge for Jesus challenge Peter and ill do you love me, and of course last week we've spoken about Pentecost and how that Peter and the other disciples were in the upper room and they had waited and what we left last week was Peter all was giving an explanation of what had taken place and how that within the individuals from Jerusalem were coming, had come to Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost, and they were from different towns and communities throughout the region and on Pentecost they were this an sound of a mighty rushing wind came and laid spoken languages that they didn't know any people from these different communities came and they heard the sound, and then they heard his individual speaking in their own languages and explain the goal the power of God. And after all that took place. They were wondering what it happened and Peter stood up and he began to speak, and he praised about how this was in relationship to what the prophet had spoken to them in the prophet Joel had spoken to them, and how that began to exhort to them about Jesus Christ and how he so suddenly Peter has changed the coming of the Spirit, then there may be understanding of what Jesus had been teaching him, and all all this panic comes and came to this moment in time, it was Peter now stands up and declared to the people what is going on and is very interesting. If you do like a character spouting in the progression of what goes on with Peter. He is this individual that has just totally done a one eighty, say, a three sixty of the most other than a complete three sixty while ago complete three sixty it on the same direction you were before, so it read one eighty U-turn and gone a different direction, and so PA or has done a one eighty V the crucifixion of Jesus 's death is barrel his resurrection, and it all came together. Pentecost for Peter. It all began to make sense when God came into his life and in the power of the spirit came into upon Peter. It just gave them a complete sense of direction of new direction. You have that upper room. This is a picture of the upper room. Now it was in the thirteenth century. This was rebuilt, so it's not the actual upper room where the disciples were an upper room denotes the Last Supper, so it is in this place that was NL, archaeologists say that it's very likely that this building. This room is built upon the act tool ruins of what was the upper room and solid. This is something I remember being here and singing in that room. Imagine that the singing about the we as a group we did a bus tour go from from the Johnstown area went over and I like to do that, maybe a year or two in the summer to start saving your money and move will go to Israel for four week on what it costs now, but back then it was about eighteen hundred dollars or twelve hundred dollars or something, and it was a complete for signing out. That was her airfare from New York City's study how we were there, and job underneath this building is a second-floor upper room, and underneath this building is what is considered David to and they had an interview on the Internet agency were there this place where casket area type things for topic. This is the root right word, and which they believe it might be David's too many cars they have no evidence for that, but in the Scripture. We read in acts chapter two verse twenty nine, says dear friends, let me be completely frank with you. Our ancestor David is dead and buried his chosen planes like today, so if we think of these words that the upper room in David's two are very much together and in Israel today. The upper room in the place that you just saw there and right underneath that is a placement is considered. David Stern and so when Peter is standing up and speaking is speaking right outside of the building right outside of perhaps what was this room, and it is in that place. He's addressing the individuals who are, how come the Muslim. I have come to this place of the upper room and they have heard this mighty sound and Peter is explaining to them what is happened, and he says. But there's also a prophet, and knowing that God had solemnly sworn that a descendent of his would roll his kingdom seeing forehead peacock of the resurrection of the Messiah. No trip to Hades no strength stench of death. This Jesus God raised up so it begins now to speak about what is happened and how that Pentecost account and now he was drawing attention of the group into the people why Jesus had to die why Jesus had come and Jesus as God contoured incarnation God became man that God died, and this was part of God came here to die for our sins, and this became part of God 's plan. So we sounded fine. How Peter is just young chains young the transition has taken place in Peter 's life from the crucifixion the night. This upper room Last Supper this Last Supper this room could have been a really difficult place for Peter to be here could have been in that upper room and remembered. This is where I told Jesus. I will never forsake you. I'll protect you from from people buying and Jesus said to Peter, the ninth thing the roosters narcotic route for the rooster crow three times before the crows, you will deny me three times, and Peter could have been so caught up with that he would've missed out on what Pentecost had to offer. But Jesus took him through that night at the Sea of Galilee. When they had been out all night fishing and caught nothing and they came in the next five Jesus in your prepared for them. Fish and bread, and he served them, and then he asked, and Peter, you love me that three times was almost enough reminiscing what it happened that night at the crucifixion. Now Peter is back at this room back at this place called the upper room. The place where they probably serve communion Jesus instituted the Eucharist in the Last Supper. It is there that Peter is waiting for God to empower him and the others. A hundred and twenty and is there that the spirit of God comes upon them, they held this empowering comes upon Peter and then in verse thirty six he says all Israel. This is Peter now talking to the same group each as all as real men know this. There is no longer room for doubt God made him master and Messiah. This Jesus whom you killed on the cross. So Jesus naturally put Peter analyses what Jesus had come to do it come to save the people from their sins had come to bring in the new kingdom again. And most of the other disciples were thinking. Jesus was never set up a kingdom like David, now this is not a fit any stretch of imagination. There's David Barry) that same place and they thought Jesus was going to come and set up a kingdom like payments, but David Don Jesus had come to set up a kingdom that would never die. Imagine that. Here is everything you know) is this place called in the upper room and the two of David and Peter preaching and all of this symbolism. In all these events that had transpired within this little group. This little distance little area and out at their standing in. Thought I'm going to be Jesus 's right-hand man disliked David had a kingdom. Jesus has a kingdom that Jesus died Pentecost came, Peter has a whole different concept. We begins to tell the people this Jesus whom you crucified, then we haven't goes on and the people responded brothers brothers. So now what do we do so when Peter 's preaching and Peter is telling them what is happen any thousand you crucify Jesus. The people they began to understand that Jesus was the Messiah. Now we we find out later that there were thousands added to the church that day. What happens is most of the people have heard or seen Jesus. They had heard of him as a teacher, as the Messiah then heard about him and the miracles that he had done perhaps even some of them had been present at some of the miracles that Jesus had had performed and when they heard Jesus being preached by Peter. They responded and said that he is the Messiah. It is unlike David the king. This laying in the tomb feels like the Messiah that we had been expecting, and they believe the neighbor at a certain so when one peters, they suggest a number of what what we have to do to be saved is in the King James version Pierce says in verse thirty eight. Change your life turn to God, and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ, son, your sins are forgiven. Time to go hi, the first thing that we do in our life is to turn our life over to God. Then he goes on to be baptized. Baptism is the same baptism that we do today has an apprentice in a baptismal service in the in the summertime, not in wintertime, but the summertime we have a baptismal service in their pool. It's the same baptismal service. Basically as what we do today is what Peter is telling them to do right here in this verse to be baptized each of you and you are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, said Taveras, there is his understanding of who Jesus is. Jesus is not a dad being he is a risen Lord, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit receive God into your life by the Spirit of Christ received bad spirit, the same spirit or raised Christ from the dead is the same spirit that makes real to you. Jesus is alive. So when that when they are preaching about Jesus. When peers telling them about Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is there working in the lives of people they begin to sense in the spirit of Christ and the Spirit of the Holy Spirit, they begin to sense what they felt when Jesus was speaking to them. Jesus is alive and whatever we pray whenever we are asking God to be with us. We never we sing the songs of worship, and whenever we enter there is a sense of God coming into our life. There is a sense of God, being that it is the same spirit that was very Pentecost is the same spirit that work in the lives of the: Peter was preaching to them that the same Holy Spirit works in our lives to bring us to this realization, the Christ within us that we are forgiven receive the Holy Spirit. The promise is targeted to you today. This is important. First, the promise is targeted to you and your children, your speaking to the individuals that are there. The promise of God is to you individuals who are hearing me it's here to you and your children, but is also to all who are far away. That's us. Far way doesn't mean in another country far away is in time and years and sequence of centuries that it is the same thing. The target is for younger children to those who are a far away on whom ever. In fact, our master, God invites everyone. God invites to come into the kingdom of God. And this is what happens. The power of God comes and saves them from their sins a lot in this vein for a long time. That's like when pastor forgets about the time and he preaches about twelve thirty. He went on in this vein for a long time okay on FFF that you all been there. So what happened. That's what happened to Peter began to teach and preach and he just kept on going. He urged them over and over again. I'll while you can get out of this sick and stupid culture. I like that one get out of this sick and stupid culture separate from the sins of your culture where we thought we missed, but no one ever says that we are in world were not of the world. We are not the world that which is anti- God were not on that world don't become part of that stupid culture that is against God Dolly part of that stupid culture because you destroy yourself a soldier be part of what Jesus Christ and that day about three thousand took him at his word. Three thousand people excepted Jesus Christ and were baptized in water under under the inspiration of what Peter was telling them at that moment three thousand people came to believe in Jesus Christ that day as a resident Messiah as a risen Savior, they committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles that Peter and the others now began to see what Jesus intended in his stories and his teachings in his ministry and the miracles they began to understand now what Jesus had said this is how to like us, me, there is a country like Peter, there was a progression from when he was called the when he jumped out of the boat and walked on water to win. He, after the crucifixion, Jesus confronted him. You love me after the ascension Jesus says to them, go and weights and Terry and Jerusalem. You see that with the progression in Peter 's life. There is a progression going on in his understanding of what Jesus was trying to do, and if that same progression that continues to go on and grow on and on us. Verse forty three everyone around was in awe. All those one hundred and saw all those all those wonders and signs done so the apostle there were miracles being performed by the apostles, just like was being done by Jesus. So there is confirmation that what Jesus had been doing in the in the region. His spirit inside of the apostles was able to do for people again. The miracle didn't stop the teaching didn't stop. It was part of their religion and are not Sunday school lesson today talked about religion in the Jewish culture wasn't something that was separate from them as individuals. Religion was very much a part of their everyday culture of their everyday setting the matter what they did was all part of their system nailed what they did in the morning for breakfast and lunch and work and everything there. Their faith in their religion was altogether was very much intermixed wasn't separated while the believers lived in harmony and holding everything in common and they follow a daily discipline. The discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home and every meal was a celebration exuberance and joy for him praising God. It was a wonderful time to be alive. It was just a great time to experience what God was doing and then chapter three. It was a wonderful time going on okay one day we don't know how many days after this, but one day, chapter three at three o'clock in the afternoon. John Rhonda way to the temple. They were going therefore prayer Jewish culture nine three and a dusk, there was a time for prayer so Peter and John L Peter has a brother that the disciple John has a brother that the disciple of Peter, John, exciting. This point talk about opposites attracting peers. This in a yellow exuberant character. John is this reserved. No easy-going character and Peter and John are together, they're going to the Temple for prayer at the same time, there was a man crippled from birth being carried out every day. He was set down at the Temple gate. The one name beautiful the bag from those going into the Temple so. John going to the Temple were going to go through this simple gate. Mister Mugabe was a very common Jacob that was used in people entering into the Temple gave the gate called beautiful, and it was where the most people went through, and that was a good place. The bank now ill and that society if you couldn't work this baker could not. He was he was crippled from his youth, and if he was going to be sustained. There was no public services to take care of him so he would be carried by friends or family to the gate and he would depend upon highest religious people to give to him as they were going into the Temple. While Wimpy when he saw Peter and John about to enter the Temple. He asked for handout is normal routine. He would ask of people going into the Temple for alms for the poor alms for himself. He can you help me out here well when he saw Peter and John. He asked for a handout. Peter with John and decide looked him straight in the eye and said, look here writers wanted ideas with that they would never make eye contact. I I conduct was not nothing to the bigger would make with a higher personal of status in society. Look here, Peter demanded. Look here and he looked up expecting to get something from them. Pierce says I don't have a nickel to my name, but what I do have I give to you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Peter, boisterous interface, Peter hindered again. Here's a guy says any gimme some money, help me out here appears that I will have no have a nickel to give you what I have. He reached out and ending in the key here. I think it's in the name Asus is in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus, you see all of this is about Jesus. If we jump on down to words of your in verse twelve, it has always relied why does this take you so much so so by such complete surprise wise parent on us, as if our power or piety made him walk you think when Peter reaches out to this individual, and says Silver and gold have I none, but in the name of Jesus. The name of JCC. Jesus is not a dead Savior. He is a the more whenever we pray noticed that whenever I frame what we always end up with what will we say in Jesus name. What does that mean while, whenever we say the name of an individual special in this case, especially when they are drawing upon the character and and and everything that that name represents now say say that I was extremely, extremely wealthy. I am my father owned the cattle on thousand hills all the gold and the silver belonged to him and he easily transfer some of that wealth into my system, but not just yet. So anyhow so anyhow, just say that we have all of this well again. They've all is well. Nikki Kaman up around like to hear and pick on you that you want down Nikki and I could like you came years after the listed display that he is very wealthy, all of the wealth and not have the she just extremely wealthy to what she did is she has missed that she has established an account in every store in town. Every store and found it was only three every store in town has an account with Nikki 's name on it now. Brian short lineup. Now Brian goes to the store, pick us for any store bought Dollar General object. Brian goes to Dollar General and he gets a whole Charlene Scharf, marketing, shopping cart full of goods any goals of the checks out and was checking out, he says, in the name of Nikki Perry for the any and what happens processes of an writes about. He takes all the goods was all paid for. Thank you think why has Nikki has an account there, but NBC's when that evening, when anything she has an account there. When we pray in the name of Jesus. Everything Jesus has an account there now and in the illustration that we had Nikki doesn't have to show up a disaster username, but whenever we pray in the name of Jesus. Jesus shows up at every prayer at every point see when and it was we read on, and that Scripture we found that Peter is telling then why are you so amazed to what has taken place. Why are you so amazed that this happened. Looking at us as if we have done this NPC Peter don't peter has changed because just a few days, maybe three months earlier. Peter is saying to Jesus. Jesus says Peter Stephen Pierce is the Jesus when you're all their binder and then take you where you don't want to go one and out and and Jesus said to speaking of the death of German. I haven't Peterson. What about John with that. I'm than now. Peter has changed from that type of person to like your you mean if I were godless. I do this I what I am doing here is in the name of Jesus, his character canceled. Why is still alive. Jesus shows up, and he's doing these very same. These doing the miracles he always did, but he's doing them through in his name, so you don't look at us, you look at and the account that Jesus has established that his blood was shed on the cross is the blood that washes away our sin. Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world that the blog of Jesus Christ shed upon the cross is our salvation for our sin by his stripes we are healed. The feeling that God has for us and that's what we pray for individuals who are sick. The healing that God has for us is on the strife that he took upon himself that we might be well from our ill illness, the resurrection life comes from the resurrection of Christ. If the same spirit, the raised Christ from the dead, while the new he shall quicken your mortal bodies. In Jesus name I pray, and that prayer is not about me, not about how good I am isn't about whether I've been ill whether I got money that don't have money, whether I'm a really good person in the name of Jesus Christ, Peter says, rise up and walk so everybody. And then he goes on to tell the people had Peter block. First of all, the guy, but he do, he jumps up. This guy has been lying. He's never walked in his life. He's never walked in his life, and Pierce is not at all, but in the name of Jesus and what happens when the guy, but it would reveal scroll on granted by the right-hand folder not been enhanced that his feet and ankles became firm and a job. He jumped to his feet in the learned balance in the learn how walked. He jumped to his feet and then I went into the temple, walking back and forth dancing. I mean, he is just ecstatic. You've never walked in his life before, but in the name of Jesus, the same Jesus who went around healing the blinded eyes, who brought Rose, the people who call people back from the dead is the same Jesus that Peter is saying brought healing and whenever money came around after their rubbing your eyes like we see this guy before he's never walk before he was in such poor condition. He couldn't even stand up his leg. His ankles and his faith. Everything were such deterioration in Carlock never could he walk looking now Peter begins while you look at me. It's not about us. John and I it's about Jesus. And every time that we pray every time that we ask in Jesus name we are bringing the character, the person of Jesus Christ to this moment this means and were asking him to touch every time we pray every time we pray it's not about me do I deserve this on than that, I've been good. It's about Jesus. And every time we pray in Jesus name our attention doesn't go to us doesn't go to the need. The ghost of Jesus to show up in all of his character in all of his glory, and all of his power in all of his grace and mercy to touch that person through the through your prayer through your words through your love. He touches men chose to. So whenever we say that little phrase. We are only beginning to understand what's going on when we pray, we see a need, God is starring our hearts to pray so that he can move through on us through our prayers to touch that person. So we've been praying for Megan. This beautiful little grown Wiltshire. She needs her she needs a divine touch. But so do the other people that you remember and pray for your family and friends. We don't build it up by saying, well, you know, she's we will grouse she's been good and having problems. Jesus doesn't look at the background is moved by our faith. So Lord is not about whether we deserve it or don't deserve it. It's not whether they been good or bad, God in Jesus name we pray for Megan, say the name that you've been praying for, say their name out loud if you like, say their name. In Jesus name we pray for Jesus. We believe that you will be there to touch them to heal them to restore them God. Whatever is not needed at this moment of time, we pray, Lord. It isn't about the silver and gold. It's about your spirits flowing through us touch these lives we pray in Jesus name amen amen means even so, let it be. As I have said even. So let it be, as we have said, let this happen. As we have prayed and the prayer about us. It's about Jesus. Amen. So when we pray, remember it's like Peter there any garden. They're going into the Temple. The look at me, look at Jesus and publishLie on there. The look at me, look at Jesus and publish
