John 21
1) After these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.
2) Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.
3) Simon Peter said to them, "I‘m going fishing." They told him, "We are also coming with you." They immediately went forth, and entered into the boat. That night, they caught nothing.
4) But when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples didn‘t know that it was Jesus.
5) Jesus therefore said to them, "Children, have you anything to eat?" They answered him, "No."
6) He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it in for the multitude of fish.
7) That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It‘s the Lord!" So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around him (for he was naked), and threw himself into the sea.
8) But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away), dragging the net full of fish.
9) So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.
10) Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught."
11) Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fish, one hundred fifty-three; and even though there were so many, the net wasn‘t torn.
12) Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." None of the disciples dared inquire of him, "Who are you?" knowing that it was the Lord.
13) Then Jesus came and took the bread, gave it to them, and the fish likewise.
14) This is now the third time that Jesus was revealed to his disciples, after he had risen from the dead.
15) So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
16) He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
17) He says to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?" Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, "Do you have affection for me?" He said to him, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.
18) Most assuredly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself, and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you, and carry you where you don‘t want to go."
19) Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."
20) Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus sincerely loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus‘ breast at the supper and asked, "Lord, who is going to betray You?"
21) Peter seeing him, said to Jesus, "Lord, and what will this man do?"
22) Jesus said to him, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."
23) This saying therefore went forth among the brothers, that that disciple wouldn‘t die. Yet Jesus didn‘t say to him that he wouldn‘t die, but, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you?"
24) This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.
25) There are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they would all be written, I suppose that even the world itself wouldn‘t contain the books that would be written.

Owner John chapter twenty one, and were going to read the entire chapter, but will do it as we go through it and the deep within doing is talking about Peter and on last week we did Peter Nobel rock the boat and that was when Peter Wise saw Jesus walking on water, and he got a jumped out of the boat and walked to the DeJesus on the water will this is the kind I like the third experience we had with Peter and how that Peter is now confronted with Jesus and he has confronted with the idea when Jesus asked Peter, do you love me. The alumni and. Some inclined to respond to that admonition is what you know Lord that I do, but there's many things going on in this in this chapter, I think there are very comparable to who we are and this is the experience. Now that we have with Peter is it's after the crucifixion and the resurrection. And it's before Pentecost and with that period of time in which they are have left Jerusalem have found their way back to Galilee and Jesus is now appeared to them in this chapter, and they have to be confronted with their confronted with Jesus and God of their life and where thereat, and we know that this chapter we have. It is a time when the disciples that China didn't know what to do and have an idea as to where they should go hunting. They spent three years with Jesus and they had this preconceived idea that Jesus is going to set up a kingdom like David had a kingdom and know this earthly kingdom, and in the disciples had felt that they were going to be on his right and on his left and they were going to be rulers over this kingdom well when the crucifixion came back changed all of that, there hopes of that type of the Kingdom, part and then we have the resurrection in Jesus is risen from the dead and they were all amazed and out in the art bill. Wow, what a wonderful thing. Jesus is alive in these appeared to the disciples twice down, but what does that have to do with them. So they don't know the kind of stuck in the middle is what what we get it now. So he comes to there. We many may come to their understanding unit of the seven of them, and they make their way back from Jerusalem to the Sea of Galilee and they're going back to where they originally had this call upon their life were Peter first met Jesus and Jesus called him out of the Bolton common. I will make you fishers of men. So what happens whatever we don't know where to go. Sometimes we just go back to where it all started to go back to where we where we began this, this whole journey and see where it leads us. So this is what we have going on with with Peter and so we look at chapter twenty one verses one, two and three and were reading from the message Bible while and it says after this, Jesus appeared again to the disciples, this time at the Tiberias Sea, the Sea of Galilee. This is how we did it. Simon Peter, Thomas nickname when Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee, the other the brothers and seventy and two other disciples were together. Simon Peter announced. I'm going fishing. So what's interesting is we look at this chapter look at what's going on. They appear that they don't know what to do next. They've had some tremendous things go on in their life. They've been taught by the best. Jesus is a man the teacher may have knowledge about the kingdom of God is it about any of the rabbis and but they also have the death of Jesus and the resurrection of Jesus and they have a question. What are we going to do now, so they find their way back to the Sea of Galilee. While there, that while they are at the Sea of Galilee. I imagine that this talking about what you know what's going on the events of the day and Peter comes up with the idea, let's go fishing. Now you have to understand that this idea of going fishing wasn't like you and I you know, we don't have a new do. Let's go fishing while let's look at verse three and four. So Peter, announces I'm going fishing, and the rest of them. Reply or going with you. They went out and got in the boat and they caught nothing. That night when the sun came up Jesus was standing on the beach, but they didn't recognize him. So the other seven. They didn't know what to do in SL are going with you. So they all got in the mountain went went fishing. This is an idea of a night out, relaxing, perhaps they needed money. Why while Judas. He was the treasurer and he on himself and dated treasuries disappeared and they had no one giving to their ministry because Jesus is not there. He's not teaching anything is there's no messages. There is no miracles. There's no crowds and there is no supply for them as individuals, and there was no savings for them to draw on. So they said let's go fishing. So they faced all night and they caught nothing and frustrated with the old life and not sure what they were to do in this they went fishing is an understanding how that sometimes whenever we were in a transition that were transitioning from one thing of life to another point of life that would try to stop in the middle as to which way we should go and how we should do things while the thing I look at a number of points in this the that I I I liken it personally and things is that Jesus is on the shore, so they first thought. Like tides in the evening when they go fishing and they face all night so they have been fishing all night and in the morning and that in the early light. Jesus is on the short and they didn't recognize him. That you spent three years with someone and not recognize while it's early in the morning and it's perhaps the big one translation as of about a hundred yards from shore solids in the morning time and may they all recognize him. But that Jesus is their NATO recognizing how many times is God showed up in our lives that are around us. Been there all the time and we can recognize we can recognize the hand of God wouldn't recognize the provision we can recognize it was Jesus. There, and what is Jesus asked them was the Aspen, he said in verse three good morning. Did you catch anything for breakfast. They answered no. It reminds me of Bob Jesus with the blind man. He says what you want in the blind is why one seat. The obvious. We spoke about prayer this morning in Sunday school. Whenever we talk to God when we challenge. I don't have to make some flowering flowering no very embellished prayer so that he understands it. We make some hard. We just talking about who we are and what are every meet everyday needs are and we are to recognize what our need in life is and whatever we recognize that need in our life and we start talking about it and making it a prayer in you that little voice a little idea inside of you says oh you know when I should ask God for this. I should pray about this and that little voice inside of us, I believe, is to spirit speaking to us and saying nothing is impossible with God, and whatever we look at our life and we make those assumptions we make those prayers and of course there's the other side and then it says wow your really need that. That's really not that important to the kingdom of God. That's really not something that an there's this battle going back and forth in our mind about how we should pray we should pray for sometimes it happens in our relationships with people you know is the joy of our life. Still, there in that relationship is a life is a life that you once felt still alive inside of you. If the peer felt that he would be a leader in the kingdom of God, but that whole idea has diminished and now he's fishing again is back to what he used to be a fair share on the Sea of Galilee, and this is what I think of whatever we are looking at our life that we get stuck in a transition that Jesus is the Jesus is here Jesus is with us. What if he can never leave us nor forsake us. Jesus has a plan. Now, there are many things that we had been a part of in our lifetime. Witness the miracles of the and yet here we are, as like Peter and the seven outdoing our old thing again trying to re-create something that was God is interested in taking us someplace new, so, like the old saying, don't curse the darkness, moving them alike will focus on what's wrong with my life. Look at what God has done in our life and move on. Jesus, he asked the obvious question. Did you catch anything you have a food for breakfast. What were the disciples doing fishing all night peers and experienced fisherman. He made his life doing this. They fished all night. He said, did you catch anything any answer is no. How do you think they answered this guy. I'm sure that Natalie is inefficient. All I did you calculate a miraculous know them down. Sure limited in enough guys out there, you just take it good that over their initial asymptotic breakfast while there for all the net. On the other side of the boat. I never been fishing and nothing to amount to anything that live in fishing off of the less left side of the boat and somebody says, hey, that was to catch anything, and I think now put the rock on the other side of the boat. All okay thou make a difference, but I really change everything on it Jesus is here with our recognizing when a transition where we go window back to what is familiar. What's the difference between the right side of the boat on the left side of the boat. There are little acts of obedience that make all of the difference in the world. There are recall sometimes: random acts of kindness little acts of kindness and make all the difference in the world to someone words of encouragement, words of comfort that make all of the difference in the world. And so here we the left side of the boat. Perhaps the dreams of the kingdom of God like David coming in meat, fish, and withdrawing the men out there and and weight. We catch nothing because that was what we expected God to do in our life, but on the other side of the bolts is a little act of obedience coming from this person. I'm sure that were really not sure who he is. The disciples in this act of obedience of throwing the nettled that side was that they were now going to move from the kingdom like David's to a kingdom that they could never imagine about a way that God wanted to work in their life and seek. We look at ourselves. Sometimes adware 's wedding about of our life and we say what's going to make a difference. How is my life ever going to be different, cause my life ever going to be important, and we keep fishing the old way and God says give your life to me, God says to us through his spirit and his word, pray, I need to direct your life got says to us from the Sunday school and church be involved little act of kindness on the same boat. One side represents one thing another side represents in a little act of obedience makes all the difference in the world 's economy, no what God will do with our act of obedience and what not. When I talk about moving our life living ourselves loose cell seminar moving fabric our changing communities are changing homes or whatever were looking at the little acts of obedience that are very simple acts and will say what does that matter, but these are simple acts given to us by this person on sure where I sure who is because one way to find out as we respond to what he says something happens when the net when I threw the net over the right side verse sixteen. The second part it says they get money said, and all of a sudden there was solid, efficient, it they weren't strong enough to pull it in. So here are seven guys not strong enough to pull in the net because of what happened in a moment of obedience. This isn't a massive act of obedience. This is a little act of obedience that flies in the face of almost stupidity you been thrown Manitoba left now thrown on the right in our lives. Sometimes it's the little things that we do out of faith that produce the greatest results. The produce the greatest changes that we just simply do something the same way Madonna from a different perspective from a different expectation. I expect something different member insanity. According to the great profit building. Einstein have to decide that they Moses does getting Einstein what is Einstein 's thinking the same behavior expecting a different result. You see, we look at our life which I am going to do it. I've done this a thousand times, but you know what my expectation was in Peter 's case kingdom like David's now Jesus wants the kingdom like you can imagine we put on the site, so there were so many fish they couldn't will lament the ever yell sometimes the sitting around thinking sometimes nebulous time in which he imagined the disciples to think they had their favorite miracles, so you're the seven disciples Thursday around the campfire. Perhaps the night before and every viewing. Well I remember when you think that their favorite miracles. I remember when Jesus did this. I'm number one Jesus did that. I remember we do it while the disciples made them and us soliciting around here, that's just me this before peters is a lot more vocation onlookers. Bob rescued you consider I talked will do something Peter Hattaway, they canceled or sitting around the campfire here and I'm imagining this is not in the Scriptures, but I can imagine and one miracle I think was on the top ten list of all the disciples was the feeding of the five thousand thousand five thousand men plus women and children. Why was it on the top ten list because every one of them was involved in the American. They found a boy with five loaves and two fishes all the disciples had a basket so you got this capable lunch and Jesus blesses the lunch a filled up the basket of each of the disciples think now Jesus says interview go to a section and feed the people in your section. They went and read all the people in their sections five thousand people plus women and children, all in section and then Jesus says will pick up the reserves they went back and pick up the reserves and each of them came forward with a basket full of bread and fish. Nothing was diminished with the use with the eating of God 's provision. Nothing is diminished when out of God 's provisions when God provides for us. It is like robbing from someone else. I doubt I can pray for that because there's somebody else needs that all like God doesn't have enough to go around God 's storehouse is not diminished with use. So the disciples. Here they are. And I think that this, I think that this act of all the fish in the net might have reminded them of that particular miracle. So what happened here in the tax. The part that is, I think another one is very interesting parts. The center of the NetWare six: off the side of the boat and see what happens. They did what he said, all of a sudden there was medication at the enough to pull it over and the disciple Jesus loved said it's the master now we can have surmise from this. What happens in this text were little later on Peter and Jesus are together and took Peter, you love me so we know that Peter was probably agonizing over his denial of Jesus because he was so vocal in saying I'll never am never denied Jesus carefully kill me. I'm not going to deny you deserve, before the rooster crows, three times. The Peter are now not, may not mean Peter did well here is there in about the got the later would find a hundred fifty three large fish they can pull it in, and John says Peter that's Jesus. What Peter, that's the master. You can now says Peter put on his robe, it meant that they make on a stripped-down bill Heather Young guys out on the boat. They weren't wearing the vest clothing and stuff. Thirty others are working on a smell like fish on how you are put on his is probably Johnson, the late Kenny Swain 's diseases, and he has some private time with Ian Jesus because they were the good live within South is aware over what he had done so first, ten, eleven, says we don't know one of what happened when Peter and and Jesus are together. There's no conversation there we see some of the other events that transpire. First, ten, eleven Jesus said, bring some of the fish you caught Simon Peter joined, then pulled up the net to the shore and hundred fifty three big fish and even with all those fish the net didn't rip Jesus said breakfast is ready. While this does look at this, Jesus said practices writing not one of disciples dared ask who are you, they knew was the master. They had come to shore Jesus had taken the time to prepare the fish they took of what they had caught Jesus had prepared it, versus thirteen and fourteen. Jesus then talked to Brad and he gave it to them was a sound like sounds like the night that Jesus was betrayed the Last Supper, Jesus took the bread of this early morning time with the disciples. He took the bread and what he gave it to them in the page of the same with the fish cooked it broke its and gave it the disciples and I am thinking that this is really help what is Peter having a difficult time with is having a difficult time with the Last Supper, and with his denial of Jesus is having a very difficult time adjusting that God is going to forgive him that Jesus would forgive him for such a betrayal, and so Jesus is re-creating is aware of the situation of the Latin allies suffer any going to confront Peter with this very thing that he did that he can't then we can deal with himself because you can't go back and undo what you've done. We can't go back and unsay what we've said we can go back and change the pass. So Jesus brings the situation right into the present and confronts the disciples with that. With that time. After breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon son of John, do you love me more than these the first time and in this and there's a lot of different words in the Greek, the going here and I'm not a Greek scholar. So when I read it, and so on. It says that in this first one is like Peter, do you love me you love me more than these, you let me more than on the things that surround us around human life and Peter says, while you know that I love you Jesus say feed my lambs. Now again peters transitioning from his thoughts of a David kingdom in which there is a king on a throne, and as it has rollers and vice presidents and everybody around him. And Jesus is transitioning him to a spiritual kingdom and the church and leaders in the coming of the Holy Spirit and the anointing and they are not there yet. CM our lives. We haven't reached the end yet, wherein the journey were on this journey of transitioning from one part of my life to another part of our life, and we're always been a transition time until they reach heaven is on a possible transition from why will be the centralized will be in the will take us from one way of thinking problem trying the net all night on one side, about drawing on the other side of the boat that simple to make a transition with an act of obedience to someone on sure Jesus says to Peter again bring up the St. Peter met that night, but the for her three times and he denied me even bring that up with the Peter, do you love me more than these all the things that surround our life peers is when you know I do to succeed my lambs. Yes, the second time Peter, son of John, do you love me. Well, yes. Last year, and although I love you. This has to deal with. Perhaps the bit the awkward things and then we have the personal possession Peter, do you love me more than the things that you will while all, of course, Jesus, you know I love you feed my sheep start time Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon son of John, do you love me, and this one is the understanding do you consider me your friend. That's what this this this last one you consider me your friend Peter was like upset that he was asked for the third time and ask this. This type out of the question. I've given my life for you. I have been with you three years, but you see how may times. Peter denied Jesus three times Jesus relives that place in Peter 's life that night and he relives it here with him these three questions, because not because Jesus can't forgive him because he when we go other things in our life from our past. He just can't let go by the things that take place in our life that we just cannot relive them. Jesus has left to go in, you can I and God says to what you really love me you love me more than all of these two relatively more than the things that you will you really consider me your friend and peers. Now he's like an eagle size is gotten to know all things that you know everything there is to know, you've got to know that I love you Jesus say feed my sheep is telling you the very truth now when you were young. We dressed yourself to look wherever you wish, but when you get all you have to stretch out your hands while someone else stresses you and take you where you don't want to go. He said this to hints of the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God, and then he commanded. Follow me, Jesus tells Peter basically let go of those things because your life is going to be of such importance in such a value that what people do to you. They think they're going to be there going to take you and lead you and kill you for your faith. You didn't die that night of the crucifixion, but you will have your opportunity to live for me and not deny me in your future, but that's way out from here and we would think that this will be enough. Okay, we would think it will appear finally gets appear finally understands and then reversed with Leilani knowledge in the Bible never hides character flaws. Okay the Bible presents a very real people who have very real personalities and very real challenges any and expressed lately like this page turning his head. Notice the disciple John Locke, the album falling behind in fear not, not noticed any ASCII. This master plan. The peer. Jesus has just taken Peter through the night of the crucifixion through the help through the repentance and any wanted to have some face time with Jesus and he wanted to get this office just lived beyond it and he just couldn't know beyond it in his life, and Jesus taken through all these things, and is aware. Gets rid of all the garbage that went with that deny with that night in which he denied Jesus and Jesus, as you know you're going to have a time in which people going to lead you, and thereby bind you and articles of value for following me. I is without John was then if you like me and Jesus says Peter whether John lives until I come back again. Don't worry about take care of yourself and Peter is he there is a whole process of growth and change and transition going on in Peter 's life from the time that he was this brash fisherman to the time which becomes the leader of the church. Peter is a person of transition and change in personal growth. That's us. There are times we have to deal with the past, the politico, Jesus forgives us let it go. While one about the forgive and let it go. You're going your opportunities in the future to challenge almost think that you did wrong in a way that will bring honor and glory to God, but for now, remember this. There's a little act of obedience as we listen to God 's word spoken to our lives troll the net on the other side of the boat from the net on inside the eye through the net on the side, Washington, Oregon,@ that's the logic to get this here, but the faith that reaches us here says I know I've done this a thousand times before the God I believe you want me to do it again, I'll do it this way again. But the way you told me to, and everything changes. That's the God that we walk with every day he is there most of the time unnoticed by us. He's telling us the same simple message love me, love others forgive grow on in your life change from the inside out. Let go of your past I have a future for you. Now today do the same thing you've always done, but do it from a different perspective and watch what a difference I will make in your life Peter just like us, and then withstand tipoffs at twelve for the pet characters. So I got a get out here, so that but you see, God loves us and he laughs with us the last letter do you enjoy the joys you more than you enjoy yourself and not stiff neck is stiff leg and bounced my home lab now do this do that. It is it is a relational experience in which God wants us to laugh. Enjoy the trip. I finished all my identical thing you know, maybe you're just not experienced fishermen, you think you are, but there's this guy unsure says that an enemy other side. Enjoy yourself. So I thrown on the other side of the different way of editing? God works in our lives. Sometimes we don't recognize. Remember, listen to his voice, you will always confirm his word and never ask you to do something that's not written in the Rasputin do wild and crazy things, except maybe jump of about one flaw that was last week, but will look at this doesn't happen every week. This happened once in their life and tonight today's lesson was the same thing just another step in the growth of Peter, that's us another step in the growth of your life. Jesus, we get to your lives. We ask you oh God, the forgiveness of our sins to live within our hearts. God the things that we cannot let go of Lord you have already help us to forgive ourselves to forgive others and let it go for you have a future before us and Lord our life is not entangled in our past, our life. Oh God is in our future with you in the simple acts of obedience of love and forgiveness you changes from the inside out every day change us. Oh Lord also, Lord, when I continue to follow you in the path of righteousness for your namesake, for you are the owner. We are stewards of your kingdom in Jesus name we pray, and everyone said, and that's the questionOwner John chapter twenty one, and were going to read the entire chapter, but will do it as we go through it and the deep within doing is talking about Peter and on last week we did Peter Nobel rock the boat and that was when Peter Wise saw Jesus walking on water, and he got a jumped out of the boat and walked to the DeJesus on the water will this is the kind I like the third experience we had with Peter and how that Peter is now confronted with Jesus and he has confronted with the idea when Jesus asked Peter, do you love me. We are stewards of your kingdom in Jesus name we pray, and everyone said, and that's the question
