Matthew 7:1-12
1) "Don‘t judge, so that you won‘t be judged.
2) For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged: and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
3) Why do you see the speck that is in your brother‘s eye, but don‘t consider the beam that is in your own eye?
4) Or how will you tell your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye;‘ and behold, the beam is in your own eye?
5) You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother‘s eye.
6) "Don‘t give that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
7) "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you.
8) For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
9) Or what man is there of you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
10) Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent?
11) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
12) Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.

This is a machine transcript of the sermon. It won't be completely accurate of what's said in the sermon.
They were looking at Matthew chapter seven, verses one through twelve, and I've titled the message. Think about what you're thinking about. Think about what you think about, and the implications that what we think about actually sets things up as the Halder going to happen. Get it over in your mind a conversation that you've never had with somebody that you would really like to have. Okay, you're thinking about what you want to be thinking about what you want to be saying the challenges that we want to be thinking in the proper terms, because both the time over thinking about where wouldn't say but Jesus here in Matthew chapter seven gives to us. This outline and it is the sermon on the Mount that there are a number of topics that he goes through here and I'm not going to give me the entire sermon on the Mount in the next twenty five minutes, but we're going to look at one section of it in Matthew chapter seven. Beginning in verse one and were reading from the message Bible don't pick on people jump on their failures criticize their fault, unless of course you want the same treatment that critical spirit has a way of boomerang. It's easy to see a slideshow on your neighbor 's phase and the oblivious to the atmosphere on your own. You have the nerve to say. Let me wash your face for you when your own faces distorted by contempt if this whole traveling roadshow mentality all over again playing a holier than thou hearts instead of just living your part. What that ugly sneer off your own phase and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor don't be flipped with the sacred banter and silliness give no honor to God. Don't reduce holy mysteries to slogans and trying to be relevant. Your only being with you again inviting sacrilege don't bargain with God. Be direct for what you need. This is the I cat and mouse hide and seek game were in. If a child. If your child asks for bread, you trick him. But with Sodus, if he ask for a fish, you scare him with a live snake on this plate as bad as you are you one think of such a thing. Your at least decent to your own children. So don't you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better. Here is a simple rule of a guide for behavior. Ask yourself what you want people to do for you then grab the initiative and do it for them add up God 's law and prophets, and this is what you get. So this is a very interesting section of Scripture that I'm sure we've we've heard many times, but think about what you're thinking about human behavior is sometimes difficult to understand and sometimes impossible to understand we watch if you watch the news this week. It was a horrible situation in which some individual call him a person of the kidnapped a young child, and then they found the child dismembered and you wonder how can someone even think of such atrocities, and even yet alone do them. And yet, this sect. This is in our world and we know that this sickness stems from sin and sin is a separation from God, and these are not God 's thoughts. God 's thoughts are not evil. God 's thoughts are not tradition, not destructive. God 's thoughts are a forgiveness of restoration of bringing us into a right relationship with him, allowing his word and his spirit to be very active in our life taking us in a direction where we become what we can become more like him so as we think even of the about atrocities. This this week on PBS. They were showing up at a documentary showing a film about Pittsburgh: and it was about the Holocaust survivors and there are three Jewish individuals that are in Pittsburgh that survived the Holocaust and the, what with the Jewish community wanted to take teachers to Poland and have them go through this experience of seeing what happened. And in the in the camps over there. There were three individuals and one was a lady who as a child her mother why got out of town. I don't know the names of towns, but got out of town and was living in the ditches and in the countryside in which one morning she took her nine -month-old eight -month-old child and gave them to a fine farming family and several you please take my child, and the next day or two later this mother and another child where were killed in this family took on this. This baby and raise this child as their own till she was four six whatever and then her heart and came and picked her up another individual was one that survived because he was on Schindler 's list is not his dad and he were taken to that factoring in your life there through that time because he was on the singles list with his mother and sister were killed and then there was an individual who was in hiding in the woods. He wasn't a part of any resistance, but he would join himself with different groups and he survived the atrocities that happened, so watching to see this to see the places where these atrocities and these things happen and hear the stories of these individuals and how that you have a first-hand perspective of people who were there the one lady had been numbers on her arm, and I remember that easily remember Doctor Tompkins was here is a Jewish radiologist and he had some of his friends. We were at a wedding, and in a room and some of his friends were there and found friends and family there, and there were at least wondered if not more others that had the numbers on their arm. It has survived the concentration camps was similar. People do things good that there is the always see and hear of the atrocities of of the Holocaust, but also we don't hear very often the final family that took on the eight -month-old baby to raise it as their own putting them suffering themselves in harms way, if the Germans they Germans came and they said all was a cousin 's child if they had been found out that this was a Jewish child they themselves would been filled so they look good and bad things. Why, why is it that there is such a contrast in all of this. Why is there such a controversy to the contrast in our own thinking. We have the same contrast going on of good and evil of thoughts that would like those thoughts that you talk to people that you don't really say to them things under our breath. There are things that way become to my, but those are not God thought they don't originate with God. So why not allow all the good thoughts. Why don't we just think good things and my family be so preoccupied with good that evil has no hold in our life and in our actions being so preoccupied with God 's ways that the evil ways have no place in us. The ever think about what you think about in the outcome of those thoughts that maybe only creatures do that for sermons, but you ever think about what you're thinking about you or what going on. What are your thoughts down in that era has been that what your thoughts, you know I'll have an generally you have easily share but sometimes things are not what they appear to be certain the other day. Here's a thought is little characteristic is an is a is one of little wide with white wine. Why do we make most out of what would floats will widely make both out of iron displaced, but I think there displacement. It's called the law of flotation. Anything can float if it's wider than the mass of liquid that it displaces, but we would never think of iron floating will always think of what so what you see, I think, yet both are made out of iron. Why, because anything imploded that is lighter than the mass of the liquid. It displaces Solway today are here to make iron float. We are able to make iron float in these massive ships. It always amazes me the aircraft carriers and think these massive cities floating in the floating in the floating on the sea is as a floating the Atlantic, but there and everything on this by the same law. The same law that makes iron float is the same law that makes iron sink, so the connection is the same thoughts that we have will make us do good or can make us do evil. If it's recognizing the law that God has in our life and how that these thoughts that God puts in place for us in the perspectives that God gives to us in his word that changes the outcome that makes iron float rather than think the welcome what you're thinking. Look at how we are acting, acting towards ourselves and I think towards others will make your life floater will make you think should set an amount contained such practical ideas about life and relationships. It's about how we can make our life float how we can make our life better and how we can make relationships better and how that we can even challenge our thoughts in a way that bring to watch the reality of God 's thoughts because we know that there are Hitler's and we know that there are people who do on thinkable things, but we also know there are people who do good at great risk, and he meant unthinkable things to put their entire family at risk for a little child, which now living in Pittsburgh in one unfortunately look at today gives us an outline of behavior that directs us in how to conduct our lives in reference to the faults of others did you know other people have faults. The chief did you know that they're people actually have false the other people not made. I mean other people. There are other people that actually have found an easy judgments and assessments allow and I've done this before, but there's a there's a way to look at a judgment easy if you bite into an apple and, as I have to warm adjustment is all blondes are Apple know on November again at the judgment might imagine Apple and define a half a worm in their adjustment is all apples have more now than assessment is I've got a half a worm in my mouth so you either going to Florida. Yes. Now you want the fresh meat or you don't. Again, I saw the challenge is visited, judgment, or as an assessment while there's a worm in the Apple you have to do something with it. So look, I know what you're thinking and why you're thinking about it. So some people have faults and how then do we look at these faults in light of God 's word. You know, I can judge while there's a difference between a judgment and assessment in the Scriptures that we read here, and this is the challenge because it says no, don't pick on people, don't just list you be judged, and then later on. It's in verse nine game block what that which is holy are the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet. Now here we are told not to judge their lives and were told to put your pearls will give your bank of those pearls of the pace, although not people who run around look like hot there. How you tell the difference. What we will find out. Don't pick on people. The first one says don't judge the CB, Judge, King James or it says don't pick on people jump on their failures criticized your fault, unless of course you want the same treatment. There is a cost shouldn't not caution against judging to set and judgment to form a negative opinion about someone or something hauling to a negative opinion seat. There are some people who are just negative. You know them and using them. They're not here today you have seen the bear are people who just are negative individuals who hold negative thoughts and the challenge then is the second judgment seat is a difference in this and this section here it goes on with his that critical spirit has a way of boomerang, a critical spirit has a way of moving critical is the turning point, a person who sits in judgment who is looking for the negative will always have a critical point that turns them in a negative direction is not called critical thinking is called critical judgment, it is critical thinking is a good thought. Critical thinking is looking at something and assessing it for what it is that as a very good process of learning how to do things, but there is a critical spirit, which is a negative turning of judgment and it says is, we look at this. It sang to us. It's easy to see us lives on your neighbor space, though it's causing us to look at the person, not doing the assessing, but the person sitting in judgment. It is a different to the top of the focus in this section is about the person with a negative attitude. The person who has a critical judgment, critical spirit, a critical attitude that if talk constantly, constantly directed in a negative manner through the these are the people that have just lied under neighbors face and oblivious to the ugly smear on their own. Why don't you smile more and why you happen this one when individualized really irritates me. F without the Muses are you unhappy. What do I looking at is what you know, not smiling thank you very much. I wasn't aware of it. I saw you coming in. I just got a frown on my face in the don't know and it is some individuals just feel like it. It's their mission in life. Young to tell you certain point that you've never been never been obvious. It's not obvious to you as a dominant patient's home this week and the guy said I think you should lose weight. I recommend before and if I should lose weight. I have a lot of hundred pounds in the visit will enter just like you said a Arizona status is usually some way. They thank you very much. You know, I don't know where it came from, but I think that that's critical thinking critical judgment it out. People usually assume, news like I want to talk to them. If you why, because you have assessed the situation many times over. You have found the half a worm. Every time you been with them, and that's not in them. You're the one in stock with it in a you let me take you think the worm out of your mouth. Now you haven't heard, let me say wash your face for you when you are your own faces distorted and content. It's a whole and hear it all goes back to that the whole traveling roadshow mentality all over again. It's the actor roadshow mentality people who are hypocrites are actors, actresses, here, here is the act of their acting a part. I am superior to you, so let me tell you how lately play let me play the role of superiority. That's when talking about here, let me play the role of superiority and let me tell you how you are and hear your to me. The focus is on the person and the attitude of the person who is being critical what that at least thereafter face post watch listed here was that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor, you see the focus in this section is about me about my attitude about me sitting in judgment of others of me picking on jumping on critical of better than you traveling roadshow mentality. Let me play the part of the judge and put you in your place so that type of attitude has a way of boomer raining and coming back and hitting for the same judgment that you judge others with you will be judged. It's like you can get beyond who you are and you don't really see what God is doing in others, and you don't even see what you're doing to yourself. The boomerangs on so verse six don't be flippant with the sacred. The King James gives us an in London under sections one one, of verses that I really like the King James and give not that which is holy to the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. It's basically if you've ever. I've never hunted wild or but you can have them turn on you and Ogden rip you in pieces within plus and what he's doing. Here's the leaflet with the sacred that we just don't take what is holy and flip around and make jokes over the people then and now that I work with and they say wholly to the unholy attached to many different objects, and I will say to them, there is no such thing you know they will say that there is a holy hell when I will say there is no such place. There is no hell that is holy sorry, there is a playfulness lies the truth. You know what they say they all yeah I know there is no such place. That's right. So I remind them. Until not to swear, I did tell him there's no place is the place you know there's no such person in all or I know that guy that you're talking about, you know, I know him personally you in a meeting Sunday, but I just went to know that that is the way that we can tell people without setting in judgment. We can let them know what they're doing is wrong. So the answer and silliness give no honor to God together as a very good to have a sense of humor about anything, and in God. I think as a sense of humor because just look in the mirror and so we don't reduce holy mysteries without regions. These holy things, the slogans of the line be while not generally about God that they care everything don't take what we believe in throwdown and flippant statements and trying to be relevant. There's more to it than just turning it into a one sentence one tell me what your thoughts on God, you, why do bad things happen to good people didn't give me the answer in one sentence or less, so check that has to do with me in the equation, but we find here. The first one, the judgment is for me, and then the other person. But turning the sacred into their what we're doing in the assessment is there are things that we give to people and they will take what we give them and throw it against the so I'm not sitting in judgment of them. I need to be aware that they are taking the things of God, and making them unholy and throwing them back in God 's face, that's the place. Why don't cast my pearls before swine. I'm not sitting in judgment I am. I feel inside of me a sense of that God is hurting because I have taken what is sacred and they are trampling underfoot. So therefore I need to be aware of what I share with that person. God still loves them, and God needs to know that they are loved and I need to tell them that there needs to be a change in their life, but I don't need to tell them about the love of God for the I need to be aware of what I need to say to them, and let God speak to me because there is a difference between me say I am yet out what you need. You need to straighten out your life, you need to be like me. That's judgment. God needs to be in your life, he can change from the inside out and change that critical spirit sober sharing got and they can take that trap. Let it go, go on then there is this wonderful Scripture that says to us what in the King James, it says, ask and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened on you and be in a message Bible says don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. That is, in a cat and mouse hide and seek game wherein gender diversity people have cat, I'll have one what I want one. If you give me one. I will give it back. I don't like cats that think I'm allergic to the flight of what I just don't like spam chats have their place made it, and this is not around the cell to the houses and eleven full toys and abbeys will stress, dishonesty of the bands called the string. This little fluffy gallivanting around and about catch a small overview do you think that that's what you're doing that God is out there trying to get you to follow this little tale cat and mouse game that are displayed pretend like I don't see that that war out there and linkage dropouts on the gods answering my prayer at a praying mantis once again in the mouse you are here for that sermon attended the New York Times. I but we have this cat and mouse don't play cat and mouse game thoughts, not in the cat and mouse game. The bottom. The Bible says in the King James, knock and it shall be open knock knock on the door wide to be open to you so that you ever knock on someone's door, hoping they would be home. The juggernaut that somebody's door hoping there would be no El Al call me. Yeah so I was here all happy day anywhere home after some not see the idea isn't this Scripture is not a cat and mouse game. It is the old bargain with God. Be direct knock at the door, not what you want when you get there. Pray about everything. Pray about it. They goes on not seek as not, and hast asked represents bringing something clearly to your own mind, so that you bring a clear to God, so we are asking we are bringing what we have need of were bringing it clearly to go because then you will know will you know you will know when God answers your prayers. You see, sometimes we need to arrive at a point, God is always answer our prayers and our needs are that he will take us to a certain place and it is following that needed following a desire that God takes me here because here I have to turn left or right, but we need to make up my mind what we want and go in a direction because I can't yell flights that sitting in the car turning the wheel is not in motion. You're not going anywhere to turning the wheel. God wants us to have in mind exactly what we need to knock with expectancy of God hearing us being home asking me. I know what I wanted. I know exactly what the need is and I'm presenting at the God and I see seeking is there is something of value that I desire to have, and if it is very important to me. I will seek its until I find it. And Jesus talks about here. He says if your child asks for bread, even attractive arguments honestly while no or if your child. Ask for what fish. I feel the live snake on the plate whate'er I don't fish for you to add the snake if you as human knowledge not to do such things to your children, how much more does God does God want to give you good things, so make up your mind twenty one and then here's a very simple rule of thumb verse twelve is a very simple rule of thumb to guide your behavior. Ask yourself what you want what you want people to do for you. We want people to do for you what happened to be honest, straightforward, caring, loving truthful generous like those qualities, then grab the initiative, and being that with other people being with other people take the initiative grandpa what you want people to do for you and become that for them because it's in this place that were going to say that we are not charging of the government to give it to them because they are good enough to get my half at the judgment that the people here that are really lost and I want God to love them truly are not risking anything. I'm just loving them. Hopefully the love of God will touch their life and they will change. I'm not sitting in judgment on them. I've assess the situation and they are in need of God 's love is like I need God 's love. I need to allow God 's love flow through me sees the opportunity grab the initiative and do it for them as I do it for them as you would want to receive gift as you want to have love, love, if you want to have friends. Be friendly if you want to be a leader, then get be a position where you want to help other people become what they need to be. You become a leader if something. How all these things come together human behavior. We know that there are some crazy people out there and we know that there are some people who have lots of faults, but that's not the problem. God wants me to be his witness, God wants me to be his witness, not a self-centered me picking on jumping in critical of better than roadshow mentality. He wants me to grab the initiative and he wants me to know what I have need up and knock at the door and expect an answer to seek that which is of value and become that person of initiative that I will take the initiative to show God 's grace and mercy to all that come in contact with a man so is the so we know some people who need to sermon at the head, it's your mercy. O God, in your grace. This continues to look into our lives in if it's on the website. I was viewed on the website, you can actually see the video of the sermon that was that was that was something I wasn't prepared for that at that FFF is to see me. It lets him guess what God has a way of taking who we are and helping other people, so, God, your grace and your mercy is extended to us and God. We want to see your working on our lives. We want to see you working in us Lord, so help us Lord to know what it is that we desire view that we want to pray Lord about that which we are in the job and try and try and try again. We will knock and not because we have an expectation that you are listening to us, we will seek that which is of value. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers touching our lives and let us grab the initiative. Lord to become this person that you want us to be in Jesus name we pray, and everyone said a man and God blessedThey were looking at Matthew chapter seven, verses one through twelve, and I've titled the message. Think about what you're thinking about. Think about what you think about, and the implications that what we think about actually sets things up as the Halder going to happen. Lord to become this person that you want us to be in Jesus name we pray, and everyone said a man and God blessed
